CLARA BARTON
Clara Burton was born on December 25, 1821 in Oxford, Massachusetts. Burton was a nurse to wounded soldiers during the Civil War. She wanted to help any soldier during the Civil War in any way she could. She was nicknamed "the angel of the battlefield" for all of the soldiers she helped. She died on April 12, 1912.

HARRIET TUBMAN
Harriet Tubman is believed to be born between the years of 1819 to 1822 in Dorchester Country, Maryland. During the Civil War, Harriet Tubman worked as a nurse, cook, and spy. She helped many slaves escape prior to the war so she had the advantage of knowing the land. She got information about the Confederate plans and helped the Union plan their attacks with the information. She died on March 10, 1913.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Hodgenville, Kentucky. During the Civil War, he kept the South from seceding from the Union. He grew up in the woods of Kentucky. He ran against Stephan Douglas for a spot as senator. He lost this election but the debates with Douglas allowed him to become known throughout the nation. In 1861, he was elected President of the United States. He was assassinated on April 14, 1865 by John Wilkes Booth at Ford's Theatre In Washington.

ROBERT ANDERSON
Major Robert Anderson was born on June 14, 1805 in Louisville, Kentucky. He served as an officer during the Civil War during many important battles. He was seen as a man of honor who supported the Union. He died on October 26, 1871.

John Brown Gordon was born on February 6, 1832 in Upson County, Georgia. He was one of the most trusted generals on the Confederate side. He was one of the leading generals at the First Battle of Bull Run. He died on January 9, 1904.
